About

Filmmaker. Storyteller. Educator.

Lauren Fritz is a writer/director who has taught filmmaking at NYU Tisch School of the Arts since 2014. She has written, directed, and produced a diverse range of short narrative films and worked in production on many feature films, television shows, and commercials. In addition to her film work, she has written and edited news, reviews, and feature articles for various magazines and online publications.

Currently she has just completed her first novel, Utopia Parkway — a time-traveling, genre-jumping coming of age story that follows best friends Kit, Cassie, and Ava throughout the decade of the 1990s as they navigate love, loss, and one particularly seductive vampire in a Y2K end-of-millennium America.

Lauren received her BFA from the Department of Film & TV at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and her MA in Urban Studies & Video for Theatre at NYU Gallatin School.
